Trump reveals how he really feels about John Fetterman after unprecedented Mar-a-Lago meeting
President-elect
Donald Trump revealed how he really feels about Democratic Sen.
John Fetterman after the
Pennsylvania senator met with him at Mar-a-Lago.
Fetterman flew down to Palm Beach,
Florida, last week to meet with the incoming president at his lavish Florida property - the first Democratic senator to do so.
Trump won Pennsylvania in the 2024
election after losing the Keystone State to President
Joe Biden four years before.
'It was a totally fascinating meeting. He's a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely,' Trump
told The Washington Examiner's Salena Zito after the sit-down. 'They were both up, and I couldn't be more impressed.'
'He's a commonsense person. He's not liberal or conservative. He's just a commonsense person, which is beautiful,' Trump added.
When
Capitol Hill reporters asked Fetterman on Thursday why he decided to meet with the Republican president-elect he gave them a cheeky answer.
'I demand that I need to be made pope of Greenland,' Fetterman said.
He also told DailyMail.com in a statement that 'President Trump invited me to meet, and I accepted.'
'I'm the Senator for all Pennsylvanians - not just Democrats in Pennsylvania,' he continued. 'I've been clear that no one is my gatekeeper.'
'I will meet with and have a conversation with anyone if it helps me deliver for Pennsylvania and the nation,' Fetterman said.
Fetterman also wrote in a post on X that he would 'meet with anyone to secure some wins, including President Trump.'
The Pennsylvania Democrat also went to dinner recently with GOP Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick, who beat Democratic Sen. Bob Casey in the 2024 race.
Fetterman and his wife were joined by McCormick and his wife Dina Powell, who was a Trump administration official.
McCormick ran in the 2022 GOP Senate primary as well but was defeated by the Trump-backed television personality, Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Oz was then defeated by Fetterman, who suffered from a stroke just days after the Democratic primary, leaving him off the campaign trail for part of the summer.

Since entering office in 2023, Fetterman has bucked conventional norms.
He checked himself into Walter Reed to deal with severe depression and told the public about it.
Fetterman also has strongly supported Israel since the October 7 Hamas terror attack, while many Democrats have vocally been pro-Palestinian.
Gisele Fetterman was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and was an undocumented immigrant when she arrrived to the United States at age seven.
Trump told Zito he and Fetterman discussed their support for Israel, border security and the geopolitical benefits of acquiring Greenland.
They also discussed Nippon Steel's bid to buy U.S. Steel, which President Joe Biden blocked.
Trump and Fetterman both currently are against the Japanese firm buying the Pittsburgh-based American steel giant.
Nippon has asked a federal court to reverse Biden's decision.
Fetterman got his political start as the mayor of Braddock, a Pittsburgh-area town that is across the street from one of the largest steel mills in the U.S.
